The Americanism point program is a bellweather of how we as a chapter are doing, in promoting SAR and the ideals of the SAR to the public. It is mission critical to our chapter and to the society that we be visable and vocal with the general public, especially in schools. The chapter is awarded points based on our participation in such things as parades, school presentations, public ceremonies, speeches made by members, and media exposure.
Delaware Crossing was awarded a national award for top Americanism points in the entire nation, for our chapter size. This is an accomplishment that we are very proud of because it reflects a depth of participation by many members - not just the efforts of the few. But we must be mindful that while it is a proud thing for our chapter - the benefit we seek, is to the SAR as an organization; other local chapters, the state society and the national society as well.
