Arthur Mansfield King Fellowship
Kansas Society, Sons of the American Revolution
In Memory of Compatriot Arthur Mansfield King
This recognition is made to KSSSAR members who have 10 or more Revolutionary War ancestors registered by NSSAR. Compatriots who continue to seek additional lineal ancestors, are indeed helping our great society to grow in strength so that we may better promote the principles of liberty, for ourselves and our posterity
:
Arthur Mansfield King was the first member of the Kansas Society to become President General of the National Society. His resume of notable achievements at the chapter, state, and national level would be several pages long. He became a member of the SAR in 1963. He became President of Delaware Crossing Chapter in 1975, Kansas State President in 1976, Vice President General SCD in 1977, Secretary General 1978-79, and President General in 1980.
Compt.King began to get supplemental Revolutionary War ancestors registered in 1975, at about the same time that he began his ascent to the highest office possible within the SAR. One of the little known facts of his SAR resume is that he held the Kansas Society record on supplementals from 1975 until 2003. This stands as evidence that, as Compt. King became truly dedicated to the principles of the SAR, he recognized the value in registering ALL of a man’s Revolutionary War ancestors so that their service to the country would not be forgotten.
